July Sydney Vegan Bake Sale

Yesterday we had our first Sydney Vegan Bake Sale! It started off a very cold morning but eventually there was plenty of sunshine which along with some hot coffee and brekky from Naked Espress helped us thaw out!

I spent Friday baking and managed to churn out 7 dozen gluten free cupcakes (banana split & cookies n cream) as well as some gluten free gingerbread & chocolate biscuit sammiges and some date and coconut balls. ML. made lemon and chocolate cupcakes in regular size and lots of minis. Leigh made lots of cookies (triple choc, mint choc and pb choc), mini cherry pies (gf and non-gf), custard tarts and chocolate truffle towers.

















We had lots of donations throughout the day including two batches of chocolate peanut butter cupcakes, chocolate chip cookies, panforte, choc cherry cake, lemon gem cupcakes, lemon vanilla shortbread, choc cherry slice, biscotti, caramel slice, chocolate crackles, maple cupcakes, coconut raspberry biscuit sandwiches, banana muffins, chocolate ganache cupcakes and chocolate cake.

And a verrry cute staffy that visited our stall :)



We stayed until 3 pm as we had more to sell this time, at one point we were inundated with donated baked goods and had to find room for them all!

We made $1152.75 all up and this will be donated to NSW Animal Rescue. Thank you to everyone who helped out, baked for us and purchased something from the stall!

We'll be taking a break in August but we'll be back at the Newtown DIY Markets, Saturday 26 September.

Welcome to the SVBS Blog!

Heyahhh!

After the success of our stall for the Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale we've decided to have a bake sale on a more regular basis.

The Newtown DIY Markets are on monthly so we will probably be there most months but I'll keep you updated here as well as on twitter.

Our next bake sale will be on Saturday July 25 which is less than 2 weeks away (eek!) We will be selling from 8am and hopefully we'll be there until 3 pm, unless we sell out again!

All proceeds from July's bake sale will be going to NSW Animal Rescue. They are a rescue centre that take a special interest in older, small breed dogs and cats. They also have a no-kill policy and are run by volunteers.

We're a group of Sydney vegans who hold bake sales to raise money for animal-related charities. We started by participating in the first Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale and then we realised what a great opportunity it is and have decided to continue our bake sales on a regular basis. Our stall is located at the Newtown Square Markets on King St Newtown, across the road from the train station, outside the Community Centre.
